Usage

• Apply an even layer to freshly cleansed skin, only in the evening.
• Then apply Mahina Elixir or Bless Balm.
• Retinoids can increase your skin’s sensitivity to the sun, so please don’t forget your daily sunscreen!
• For new retinoid users: Use Aqua A every other night during the first weeks to see how your skin adjusts to the retinoid before moving to daily use.

How often can I use Aqua A?

Aqua A is gentle enough to be used daily as part of your afternoon routine. If you are new to retinoids, we recommend using Aqua A every other night for the first few weeks to see how your skin adjusts before moving to daily use.

What is the percentage of retinoid in Aqua A?

Our retinoid has a concentration of 2% and consists of a solubilized mixture of 10% active ingredient and 90% solvent (to enhance performance and improve delivery), containing 0.2% active HPR (retinoid).

What is HPR retinoid?

The HPR retinoid in Aqua A is a gentle, effective form of vitamin A that is more bioavailable and less irritating than earlier generations of topical retinoids. What is the difference between retinoid and retinol?

"Retinoid" is a collective term for a range of natural and synthetic vitamin A derivatives that can bind to the skin's retinoid receptors. Our skin only uses the active form of vitamin A – retinoic acid. For retinoic acid to work its magic and turn back the clock in our skin, it must first bind to the retinoid receptors in our body through several conversion steps triggered by enzymes. The HPR retinoid in Aqua A is unique in that it binds directly to the retinoid receptors without needing to be metabolized, which leads to less irritation while ensuring the gentle, safe, and effective action of the retinoid.

Why is Aqua A blue?

Aqua A contains three wonderfully blue plant ingredients that give it its unique color: Blue Spirulina, Blue Tansy, and essential oil from the rainforest.

Why does the color of my Aqua A vary?

Because we make our skincare from fresh ingredients, there can sometimes be variations in appearance from batch to batch due to seasonal changes in nature. This is especially true for organic and cold-pressed beauty oils. Although there may be slight differences in scent, texture, and color from batch to batch, this does not affect the product's effectiveness.

Should I shake my Aqua A to mix the ingredients?

Sometimes the blue spirulina powder in our formula settles at the bottom of the container – this is completely normal and nothing to worry about. If you notice separation, just gently shake your jar to redistribute it.

Will I detox with Aqua A?

Will Aqua A dry out my skin like other retinols?

Thanks to the gentle nature of the HPR retinoid, irritation or dryness should be minimal when using Aqua A. The formula contains plenty of moisturizing and replenishing ingredients like ceramides, Kakadu plum, and sea caviar, which provide the skin with abundant hydration.

Can I expect side effects like rash, itching, or skin sensitivity?

That is very unlikely! One of the main reasons we chose HPR retinoids in our formula is that they bind directly to retinoid receptors without needing to be broken down in metabolism, which causes less irritation while providing a gentle, safe, and effective retinoid.

How can I avoid skin irritation when using Aqua A?

If you are using a retinoid for the first time, we recommend using it every other night during the first few weeks to see how your skin adjusts before moving to daily use. If you have very sensitive skin, you can try the buffering technique by applying a light oil to the skin before using Aqua A. Aloha Ambrosia is the perfect oil if you want to try this technique; it is lighter than our other beauty oils and provides the ideal moisture layer. The order would then be: cleanse, tone, let the skin dry, and apply Aloha Ambrosia first, followed by Aqua A.

Can I use a different formula from the Leahlani line while using Aqua A?

Absolutely!

Why can’t I use retinoids during pregnancy or breastfeeding?

More scientific data is needed to ensure the safety of retinoid use during pregnancy. For this reason, we recommend consulting your doctor if you have questions or concerns about using Aqua A during pregnancy and/or breastfeeding.
