Together with my husband and our three children, I lived abroad for many years before returning to Germany in 2017. The move back to Germany was a major turning point in our lives. The children had to start at a new school, we moved into a new house in a city we barely knew, made new friends, and had to leave old ones behind. We thought, if we’re going to do it, let’s do it properly, and decided to make a fresh start professionally as well! This is where my passion for cosmetics came into play. I have always had a fondness for delicate creams, elegant makeup, and special fragrances. During the years in Basel, London, and New York, I thoroughly enjoyed visiting small beauty boutiques, discovering new brands, and trying wonderful new products. Over time, I also became convinced of living a conscious and sustainable lifestyle. With a shop for exclusive natural cosmetics from around the world, everything finally fell into place for us.

Important for effective natural cosmetics is the high quality of the ingredients and gentle, careful processing. That’s why we focus on products made from purely plant-based raw materials, most of which come from organic farming. If a product is not 100% natural, you can be sure it contains no harmful ingredients for humans or the environment. This also includes environmentally friendly packaging and sustainable production methods for the resources used.

Only brands and products we are truly convinced of make it into our shop. Through close collaboration, we gain honest insights into the work of small niche brands or fragrance manufacturers and get to know the founders personally, which is incredibly exciting and inspiring. Some of these brands are available in only a few places in Germany or are offered exclusively by Blanda Beauty. Helping to make these special beauty treasures known in Germany is a huge joy for me.

Unlike conventional cosmetic products, natural cosmetics are made from natural substances. The use of harmful ingredients such as silicones, parabens, synthetic emulsifiers, petroleum-based substances (paraffins and microplastics), synthetic fragrances and colorants, and genetically modified substances is avoided during production. These components can have negative effects not only on the skin and health but also on the environment. Natural cosmetics manufacturers also rely on resource-saving and sustainable sourcing and processing of raw materials and pay attention to the use of environmentally friendly packaging.

Unfortunately, there is no uniform guideline that clearly defines the term "natural cosmetics." Thus, "near-natural products" may contain only some natural ingredients, while the rest can be synthetic. The terms Clean Beauty or Green Beauty are also neither legally protected nor is there a recognized definition for them. It is best to familiarize yourself with the ingredients or the INCI listings. With some practice, you can quickly determine whether the products are truly safe. Another option is to prefer certified natural cosmetics with a recognized seal. However, you should be aware that small start-ups and niche brands do not always go through the certification process, as certification involves considerable effort. Last but not least, you shop at a store or brand you trust.
