Healthy hair is always the result of proper hair care. And proper hair care begins with gentle and thorough cleansing. Freshly washed hair feels wonderful. Which shampoo is right for your hair depends on your scalp, hair health, and hair characteristics.
A shampoo’s job is to clean the hair and scalp. Since sebum and environmental dirt cannot be washed out with water alone, shampoos contain cleansing agents that act as surfactants. Surfactants reduce surface tension, allowing water to bind with fats and dirt particles. The cleansing molecules link with sebum and dirt, and when the shampoo foam is rinsed out, the water simply carries away the sebum and dirt.
Conditioner: If the hair or hair ends are dry, or look dull and lifeless, a good natural cosmetic conditioner can work small wonders. Blow-drying, straightening, coloring, heat, wind, and weather put a lot of strain on our hair, so it’s no surprise that sometimes our hair feels tired and can benefit from an extra dose of care. Unlike shampoos, conditioners are not primarily intended for cleaning our hair.
