Behind NOELIE is Bahar Krahn – master hairdresser, beautician, and pharmaceutical-technical assistant. Her career combines craftsmanship with scientific expertise, and for her, beauty and science have always gone hand in hand.

During her PTA training, she made a discovery that changed everything: biopsies repeatedly showed residues of toxins – especially in sensitive organs like the breast, uterus, and bladder. Many of these substances came from synthetic color pigments in hair dyes or tattoos.

This insight never let her go. For Bahar, it was clear: hair color must not come at the expense of health. From this moment, her vision was born: to develop a plant-based hair color that is healthy, effective, and luxurious at the same time. The foundation for NOELIE Organic Hair Color was laid.

As early as 2012, she founded the Be Organic Institute in Wiesbaden – a sanctuary for holistic skin and hair care with a focus on plant-based hair colors. For over ten years, she researched and developed her products further, accompanied by pharmaceutical studies to scientifically realize her vision.

A concentrated healing peat extract with humic acids, minerals, trace elements, and over 350 healing herbs further enhances the effect. The formulation is complemented by a unique antioxidant complex made from stable tannins of the tara tree and an extract from sunflower sprouts – for long-lasting color results and targeted repair of chemically treated hair.

The structure of hair – simply explained

Regardless of whether your hair is curly or straight: each individual hair resembles a pine cone in structure. The outer layer consists of fine scales that protect the hair. When these lie close together, light is optimally reflected – the hair appears shiny and healthy. Beneath this cuticle layer is the middle hair layer, where the natural pigments sit and determine your individual hair color.

Chemical hair colors:

With intensive tints, colorations, or bleaching, the outer cuticle layer of the hair is chemically swollen. This allows the color to penetrate the middle hair layer and remove the natural pigmentation. Synthetic pigments are then introduced, developing where your natural hair color used to be.

Many users experience burning or itching during application. The chemical ingredients do not distinguish between hair and skin and also attack the skin barrier. In the long term, hair loss, dandruff, or eczema can occur.

The hair itself also changes: due to the repeated swelling of the cuticle layer, it no longer closes completely. The scales lift, the hair loses shine, becomes porous and dry. At the spots where pigments were removed, actual cavities form. Moisture can no longer be retained – silicone-containing products only mask this condition visually.

Many synthetic hair colors contain aromatic amines like PTD or PPD, which are considered potentially carcinogenic, allergenic, mutagenic, and fertility-reducing. These substances enter the body through the scalp. Studies have already detected residues of synthetic hair dyes in the bladder and even in breast milk.
