In this personal experience report, Toni Ann Barandon, founder and developer of the Naturallogic formulations, tells how she overcame her severe rosacea – and which changes helped her bring her skin back into balance.

First, I want to say: I am not a doctor, and this post is not medical advice. I am the founder of Naturallogic, a holistic nutrition consultant, and someone who is willing to look more closely and take the connection between body, skin, and inner balance seriously.

My severe rosacea was one of the experiences that shaped me the most. I share my story because it might also help others better understand their own skin.

Calming the inner skin to calm the outer skin

Maybe you have heard this phrase before: Our skin often reflects what is happening inside. For me, this was both helpful and challenging at the same time. Helpful because my skin showed me that something was out of balance. Challenging because it didn’t immediately tell me what exactly was wrong – or where I should start.

When I better understood what my body was trying to tell me, I was able to start acting more purposefully. In doing so, I recognized three main connections:

  1. Uncontrolled stress can trigger a whole chain reaction. It affects hormones, the immune system, and the nervous system – three systems closely connected to the skin's condition. For me, this inner tension showed very clearly on my skin: in the form of redness, reactivity, and inflammatory flare-ups.
  2. My digestive system also played a role. When the digestive tract is stressed and the microbiome gets out of balance, in my experience, this can also affect the skin. Inflammatory processes become more visible, the skin reacts more sensitively, and the skin microbiome can more easily get out of balance.
  3. A purely external treatment was not enough for me. Many people with rosacea know creams, ointments, or dermatological treatments. These can be helpful and have their place. In my case, however, I felt that the visible skin condition was only part of the problem. I had to look deeper: at stress, digestion, the immune system, and the nervous system.

Find the source of stress – and take it seriously

Stress is not always obvious. We often first think of mental or emotional stress: pressure, worries, overwhelm, inner restlessness. But the body can also be burdened by other factors – for example, long working hours, intense training, poor sleep, physical illnesses, or foods that are individually not well tolerated.

For me, it was crucial not to dismiss these burdens as minor. My skin showed me that my body needed support. And the more I began to find my inner balance, the more my skin condition changed.

Rosacea is slowly improving

This is what I did to calm my rosacea

1. Minimal skincare

My skin didn’t need a complicated routine. On the contrary: the less I demanded from it, the better it did.

I reduced my skincare to the essentials: a gentle cleansing when needed, and a simple moisturizing care. Instead of trying to calm my skin with ever new products, I mostly left it alone.

This was an important realization for me. I stopped "pushing" my skin and began giving it space. Over time, it showed me which changes benefited it.

2. Rest for the digestive tract and immune system

During this phase, I had many food intolerances. Certain foods caused more redness or rosacea flare-ups. That’s why I started paying closer attention to how my body reacted.

I avoided everything that triggered inflammation on my skin or digestive tract issues – such as stomach pain, bloating, digestive problems, fatigue, or noticeable changes in bowel activity.

At the same time, I focused on easily digestible, nutrient-rich foods that would support my body and not burden it further.

3. Regulation of the nervous system

The first two steps helped me a lot to relieve symptoms and better avoid new flare-ups. However, the most important point for me was to calm my nervous system.

Daily breathing exercises and simple techniques to connect mind and body became a fixed part of my routine. They helped me to get out of a state of constant tension and to give my body a sense of security again.

For me, that was the deepest and most effective part of my transformation.

My skin did not calm down overnight. But it began to react differently – more stable, less inflamed, less permanently in a state of alarm.
