All Seifenmacher soaps are alkaline. The pH value of 8.5 corresponds to that of the amniotic fluid in which we are prepared for life in the womb.
These natural soaps are not comparable to conventional soaps and shower gels. Primarily, this is due to the artisanal manufacturing process and cold saponification. Soap is created from the reaction of lye (sodium and potassium hydroxide) and oil. Seifenmacher uses coconut oil and sunflower oil as well as shea butter and cocoa butter. All these base ingredients are food-grade quality and come from organic farming.
Seifenmacher Beat Urech – based in Arosa, at home in the world – understands the miraculous process of soap making, as he was already familiar with glycerin, lye, and essential oils early on as a trained druggist. The result is genuine Arosa natural soaps – for face, body, hands, hair, and soul.

It all starts with the sodium hydroxide. Solid fats (coconut oil, cocoa butter, and shea butter) are melted in the soap kettle, and liquid base oils like sunflower oil are weighed out. The more precious essential oils and other natural ingredients (herbs, woods, spices) are carefully prepared for further processing.
The base oils and now liquid fats are mixed until, with the addition of the lye at exactly 40 degrees Celsius, the much-cited soap wedding takes place – congratulations! By lovingly stirring clockwise, the mixture slowly thickens or “saponifies.” The flavorful ingredients (essential oils, herbs, etc.) are gradually added – oh, how it smells!
The warm soap mixture is then poured into large soap molds, cooled with the help of the Arosa high-altitude climate, and prepared for three days of curing. By hand, the soap block is cut into retail-sized pieces using metal guitar strings.
With a self-built stamping machine, the Seifenmacher logo is stamped into the soaps. Like fine wine, the still unpackaged soaps are stored for 30 days in spruce wood boxes until they are prepared for the journey in beautiful and 100% recyclable packaging.

- Lather the soap lightly with water, apply to face and/or body, and rinse off with warm water.
