Besides being an ingredient in many famous perfumes, patchouli is also added to many skincare lotions. As a soothing tonic, it relieves irritation on reddened and stressed skin and also promotes a youthful and graceful appearance. It is also used in nail oils to combat yellowing and cracking.

Regarding the mind, patchouli is primarily valued for its ability to create a sensual, cozy atmosphere. When you add patchouli together with ylang-ylang, bergamot, and frankincense to your diffuser, you create an uplifting environment where you can relax and be cherished.

Patchouli has an extremely rich, sweet-herbal, aromatic, spicy, and woody-balsamic scent. In the top note, there is an almost wine-like, ethereal, floral sweetness that remains throughout all stages of drying.

Patchouli, like vetiver, sandalwood, cedarwood, and frankincense, is a fixative for perfumes. These structuring fixatives can bind the volatile molecules of essential oils and serve as anchors to keep top and heart notes lasting long on the skin.

Usage

• As a massage or perfume oil:
• The aroma of patchouli is rich, sensual, and earthy. Since it is a very strong base note, it can easily overpower other oils. In perfumery and when fixing essential oils, it is recommended to limit the patchouli content to 5% or less of the total oil. Start with one drop and wait some time before adding more to your blend. If you like your essential oil blend, you can mix it with a few ounces of your preferred carrier oil. This blend can be used for massage, or you can simply rub a few drops on your wrists to perfume them or use it as a light deodorant.
• Direct inhalation with the palm:
• Diluted in a high-quality carrier oil such as marula or jojoba oil, our patchouli oil can be used by direct inhalation in the palm of your hand.
• Aromatic bath:
• Add it to a relaxing bath oil blend to feel deeply moisturized and nourished.
• Massage blend for the evening routine:
• Mix patchouli with other skin-friendly oils like frankincense and dilute it in a carrier oil of coconut or rosehip seed oil. Apply this blend lightly all over the body before bedtime to absorb the healing effects and wake up feeling renewed and rejuvenated.
• Romance blend:
• Mix patchouli with jasmine and rose and welcome your partner to a luxurious evening full of romance and sensuality – add it to a massage oil base or a spray bottle with water and spritz it into the room.
