In Traditional Chinese Medicine, lung energy supports blood circulation to distribute defenses against pathogens throughout the body. Astragalus especially embodies this energy and is used in TCM to support the lungs, strengthen the immune system, and protect against pathogens.
- Astragalus – perhaps the most important lung tonic used in Chinese medicine to strengthen and tone Qi (our energetic system) and the immune system. Astragalus strengthens Wei Qi (the body's defenses) and helps with colds, flu, and respiratory issues. Astragalus is said to act like a protective shield for the immune system against viruses, pathogens, and other harmful invaders.
- Reishi – used for thousands of years as a mind and lung tonic. A powerful mushroom with extraordinary abilities. Besides its positive effects on our consciousness, it is now scientifically proven to strengthen the immune system, protect the endocrine system, guard the body against oxidative stress, reduce inflammation, and support brain health.
- Mullein – easily found in forests, it is a wonderful remedy for dry lungs and sore throats. This lung herb regenerates bronchial tissue and was used as an herbal wine by Hildegard von Bingen.
- Nettle – contains several immune-strengthening compounds, including flavonoids, carotenoids, and vitamins A and C. Nettle extract boosts our immune response and promotes immune cell activity.
- Ginger – this culinary and medicinal herb has anti-inflammatory and bronchodilating effects and helps break down and expel mucus from the lungs (beneficial for asthma).
Anima Mundi donated this tea to over 1,900 families in California affected in one way or another by the fires. Usage
- Place about 1 tablespoon in a cup of hot water. Let steep for 10-15 minutes, strain, enjoy, and breathe deeply.
- Add (plant-based) milk or sweeteners of your choice if desired to create an especially cozy cup of magic.
- Store the container in a dry place. Keep protected from heat and light.
