Hempitan is the darkest instant self-tanner in the Eco By Sonya range and is especially appealing when a more visible tan is desired while keeping application light and quick. As the formula contains no synthetic colourants or classic guide colour, very little is initially visible during application - and you can get dressed as soon as it has dried. The actual colour develops gradually on the skin.

The ultralight texture does not compromise on skincare either. Organic aloe vera and glycerin form the moisturising base, complemented by hyaluronic acid, coconut water, and organic hemp seed extract. Cocoa and orange oil give the formula its warm, pleasantly natural scent. Key active ingredients

• Sugarcane-derived DHA: Dihydroxyacetone reacts with amino acids in the outermost layer of the skin and gradually develops the tan there - entirely without UV radiation. With Hempitan, the intensity is particularly easy to control: one layer creates a warm bronze tone, while a second layer produces a noticeably more intense result.
• Organic aloe vera & glycerin: Aloe vera juice is the first ingredient in the formula and, together with plant-based glycerin, forms the moisturising base of the tanning water. This provides a lovely counterbalance to the intense tanning effect and helps prevent the skin from feeling dry or tight after application.
• Hyaluronic acid & organic coconut water: Hyaluronic acid helps bind water to the skin's surface and supports a smoother, more supple skin feel. Coconut water adds further natural moisturising components to the ultralight water base without making the texture heavier.
• Organic hemp seed extract: Hemp seed extract is the namesake botanical active in Hempitan and complements the formula with nourishing and soothing plant compounds. Especially in a very lightweight self-tanning texture, it is a lovely addition for skin that needs both colour and care.
• Cocoa & organic orange oil: Cocoa adds antioxidant plant compounds to the formula and, together with orange oil, gives the tanning water its warm, pleasantly soft scent. Application

• Ideally exfoliate the skin 24-48 hours beforehand to remove dry skin flakes and ensure the most even tan possible.
• Shake well before use and spray a generous amount directly onto dry skin from a distance of approximately 10 cm.
• Work in with your hands using circular motions or use the smooth side of the Tanning Mitt.
• Blend especially carefully over the hands, feet, knees, and elbows. Moisturise very dry areas with a thin layer of body lotion beforehand.
• Leave on for at least 1 hour. For a more intense and especially beautiful result, Eco By Sonya recommends leaving Hempitan on the skin until the next shower or overnight.
• For a deeper tan, two even layers can be applied directly.
• After application, wash your hands thoroughly if you did not use a tanning mitt.
• The tan continues to develop after rinsing and may take up to 24 hours to reach its final shade.

Which self-tanner is right for me?

Eco By Sonya's self-tanners mainly differ in colour intensity, texture, and application method. This makes it possible to choose a tan that suits your skin tone and how quickly and intensely you want the result to develop.

Winter Skin is the gentlest and easiest-to-control option. The nourishing body lotion gradually builds the tan with each application and is therefore especially well suited to fair skin, self-tan beginners, or a very natural glow. It can also be used to refresh an existing holiday tan or self-tan effortlessly.

Invisible Tan develops a visible, warm golden tan after just one application. The rich cream feels like a nourishing body lotion and is particularly well suited to medium to olive skin tones and drier skin. Ideal if you want to moisturise in the evening and wake up more tanned the next morning.

Cacao Tanning Mousse is the right choice if you prefer the lightweight, fast-drying texture of a mousse. It develops a medium to deeper warm bronze tan and can be spread particularly quickly over larger areas of the body - effortless when you want a more noticeable result but still want the texture to remain lightweight.

Hempitan Body Tan Water is the most intense option in the range. The ultralight spray dries almost instantly and develops a rich, long-lasting bronze tan without feeling like a cream or mousse on the skin. Especially suitable if you want a darker tan with as little product feel as possible.

What is the difference between Hempitan and Cacao Tanning Mousse?
The main difference lies in texture and intensity. Hempitan is an ultralight tanning water that dries almost instantly and is the darker option within the range. Cacao Tanning Mousse has the classic airy mousse texture and develops a medium to intense bronze tan.

What is the difference between Hempitan and Invisible Tan?

How long does Hempitan need to develop?

Can I get dressed immediately after applying it?
The water-light formula dries very quickly and contains no synthetic colourants or classic guide colour. Once the skin is completely dry, you can get dressed. Eco By Sonya explicitly describes Hempitan as “no transfer”.

Why can I barely see any colour during application?
Hempitan is not a tinted self-tanner. The visible tan only develops through the reaction of DHA with the outermost layer of the skin. This means that application requires a little more care than a product with visible guide colour.

How long does the tan continue to develop?
Even after Hempitan has been washed off, the shade continues to develop. The final result can deepen for up to 24 hours after rinsing.

Can I use Hempitan on my face as well?
For the face, neck, and décolleté, we recommend the specially developed Face Tan Water. It has an especially lightweight, non-comedogenic formula and can be integrated more easily into your facial skincare routine.

Does the tan protect against the sun?
No. The tan developed by DHA does not provide adequate protection from UV radiation. You should continue to use suitable sun protection when outdoors.
