Kia Charlotta nail polishes are completely free of Styrene/Acrylates Copolymer. A commonly used adhesive in nail polishes, which by some definitions is considered liquid microplastic.

Application

• We recommend two thin coats of Coral Diving for full coverage. For a particularly long-lasting manicure (up to 7 days), we recommend the following 3 steps.
• Step 1: Apply one layer of Base Coat to help the color polish adhere better to the nails.
• Step 2: Apply two thin coats of color polish. For especially light or pastel colors, we recommend a third coat for full coverage. Please ensure each layer is completely dry before applying the next.
• Step 3: After full curing, apply one layer of Top Coat. This protects the manicure and adds extra shine. We recommend applying the Top Coat a few hours after the color manicure or the next day. If nails tend to chip, feel free to apply another layer of Top Coat after 2 days.

What is in our nail polish and why?

ETHYL ACETATE - A solvent that helps keep the nail polish liquid in the bottle but evaporates on your nails so the polish can harden. Ethyl acetate has a fruity smell, but in nail polish it smells slightly sharp and strong. The solvents in nail polish give it its typical scent. Ethyl acetate can be derived from petrochemical or plant sources. In Kia Charlotta nail polishes, it is 100% plant-based.

BUTYL ACETATE - Another solvent that helps keep the nail polish liquid in the bottle but evaporates on your nails so the polish can harden. Butyl acetate also has a fruity smell, but in nail polish it smells slightly sharp and strong and gives the polish its typical nail polish "smell." Butyl acetate can be derived from petrochemical or plant sources. In Kia Charlotta nail polishes, it is 100% plant-based.

NITROCELLULOSE - A film-forming polymer that hardens on your nails after the solvents evaporate, forming a hard film. For the polish to solidify and last long on your nails, it needs a film-forming polymer, and nitrocellulose is one of the safest and highest quality film-forming polymers.

ADIPIC ACID/NEOPENTYL GLYCOL/TRIMELLITIC ANHYDRIDE COPOLYMER - Film-forming polymer. With nitrocellulose, this ingredient helps keep the polish hard and flexible on your nails and contributes to durability.

TRIETHYL CITRATE ALCOHOL - Used as a plasticizer in nail polish. Plasticizers make the polish more flexible and increase its durability. They help make the polish less prone to cracking or chipping.

STEARALKONIUM BENTONITE - A thickener that helps keep pigments suspended and maintains the smooth and thick consistency of the polish.

DIACETONE ALCOHOL - A solvent that also contributes to a glossy finish of the polish.

MALTOL - Maltol is a naturally occurring organic compound often used as a flavoring agent. In our polish, we do not use maltol for aroma but for something else. Maltol has been proven to significantly reduce the formation of nitrosamines, which can form in very small amounts from nitrocellulose. This has a great effect that makes our polish even better than before.

PENTAERYTHRITYL TETRAISOSTEARATE - A liquid plasticizer that increases viscosity and gives the polish shine.

PHOSPHORIC ACID - A mineral acid used to control the pH of the polish.

PIGMENTS - These give the polish its color, shine, shimmer, and/or metallic tone. Pigments are identified by their CI numbers. Metallic, glitter, or shimmer tones may also contain mica.
