For me, lipstick is a source of strength and glamour, says Élodie Carpentier, the founder of Le Rouge Français. When I was pregnant, I wanted to keep wearing lipstick. So I started looking into the formulas of my favorite brands. I don’t need to tell you what I found out – many other women discovered the same. Without compromising my health or that of my child, I began developing my own lipsticks with the purest possible ingredients. I searched for dye plants that have been used for thousands of years, and the history of these plants inspired me to create a new paradigm in natural cosmetics.

Conventional brands have always used synthetic or mineral pigments to color their makeup products. Not because they want to, but simply because there are hardly any alternatives. At Le Rouge Français, we are breaking new ground by offering pigments derived entirely from plant-based color sources that also have exceptional skin-friendly properties. That is our expertise!
Lipstick Without Titanium Dioxide
- We are proud to position ourselves as a deeply alternative and innovative brand by developing a makeup range using plant pigments. Weld, annatto, red radish, elderberry, alkanet, hibiscus, sweet potato, purple corn, tomato lycopene—all are sources of inspiration, and our special grinding, extraction, and infusion techniques help us reveal their natural, original colors.

- The totum represents the whole plant. We want to harness all the benefits and active ingredients in their highest concentration, whether from the stone, pulp, leaves, root, or bark.
- No mica – Mica consists of mineral pigments (iron oxides, metal oxides) found in the earth and can contain heavy metals. These can penetrate the skin barrier over time or be ingested.
- No titanium dioxide – Le Rouge Français has decided to ban titanium dioxide from its formulations. We made this decision to protect the health of our customers.
