Josh Rosebrook: "The BHT-free retinoid is a gentle, simply converted retinoic acid ester (as opposed to doubly converted retinol), whose safe effectiveness is supported by various studies. Retinol and retinoid are both vitamin A derivatives, with retinoid having higher efficacy."

Usage

• Moisten the cleansed skin or spray on the Hydrating Accelerator.
• Massage one pump of the serum into damp skin using circular motions.
• Note: Recommended for evening use, but can also be used during the day if sufficient SPF is applied.
• Finish your skincare routine with the Vital Balm Cream.
• Tip: If you have never used retinoids before, apply the oil only every few days during the first week. Then increase frequency to daily use. Retinoids can increase sensitivity to the sun and make you more prone to sunburn. 

Active Ingredients

• Jojoba Oil – Its high fatty acid content makes the skin soft, supple, and resilient. The oil has antibacterial effects, absorbs quickly, and contains vitamins B, E, minerals, and beta-carotene. It supports cell development and protects against bacteria.
• Marula Oil is quickly absorbed by the skin, acts as a replenishing moisturizer, and contains high-quality nutrients like vitamin E (tocopherol) and vitamin C as well as essential fatty acids. Marula oil is also known for its high antioxidant content.
• Calendula is especially known for its anti-inflammatory, soothing, and wound-healing effects. It also promotes collagen formation and helps produce new tissue (an important process in wound healing), while carotenoids strengthen the skin’s protective barrier. Very well tolerated, suitable even for baby skin. Secondary plant compounds, called flavonoids, act as antioxidants and protect the skin from damage caused by free radicals.
• Sea Buckthorn Seed Oil (Hippophae rhamnoides fruit / seed oil) is rich in anti-inflammatory omega fatty acids, making it especially beneficial for inflammatory skin conditions like acne, eczema, and rosacea. Sea buckthorn is an excellent source of vitamin A, which boosts cell turnover and promotes skin cell regeneration. The concentration of vitamin C in this potent oil provides antioxidant protection, strengthens collagen in the skin, and reduces the appearance of wrinkles and photoaging.
• Ashwagandha (Withania somnifera) is a staple of Ayurveda and is also known as "Indian Ginseng." This adaptogen supports collagen production, has strong antioxidant properties, and acts antimicrobial and antibacterial.
• Goji berries are full of antioxidants and amino acids. Goji berries help firm the skin, reduce inflammation, and stimulate circulation.
• Vitamin C is a very powerful antioxidant that balances skin tone and promotes an even complexion. Vitamin C can reduce and combat sun damage and pigmentation spots and fights inflammation and skin irritations. It strengthens collagen production and supports a radiant complexion.
• Hemp seed oil (Cannabis Sativa Seed Oil) is rich in the essential fatty acids omega-6 and omega-3. Hemp oil supports the skin's natural protective barrier, which prevents the penetration of bacteria and environmental toxins. The skin remains healthy and soft, is optimally moisturized, and looks beautifully smooth. Hemp oil can also help with skin problems such as psoriasis, atopic dermatitis, or itchy and reddened skin. This is due to the anti-inflammatory, antiseptic, and antimicrobial effects of, for example, stearic acid. It soothes sensitive and irritated skin, helps pimples and small wounds heal faster, prevents scarring, and helps prevent diseases. Gamma-linolenic acid binds water, creating a plumping effect. The skin looks full, and fine lines can be reduced.
• Rosehip seed oil, wild rose oil (Rosa Canina Fruit Oil) is extracted from the fruits of the rosehip. It effectively supports skin regeneration. Rich in vitamin C, minerals, beta-carotene, flavonoids, and malic acid, it helps with pigmentation spots and scars, supports skin elasticity, and balances skin tone. Scaly, mature, and dry skin also benefits from the use of the oil.
• Retinol, retinal, retinoids are derivatives of vitamin A, which plays an essential role in the cell growth processes. Retinol is converted in the body into retinoic acid and then unfolds its power. The vitamin supports the skin's regeneration process, stimulates metabolism, and promotes collagen production. Q.) Can I use the AIO on the same days as the Daily Acid Toner?

A.) Yes, you can use AIO in the same routine as Daily Acid Toner - the ingredients in DAT support the efficacy of the Vitamin C and Retinoid in AIO.

Q.) Is AIO safe for sensitive skin conditions?

A.) Yes, AIO is effective and safe for all skin types, including sensitive and rosacea conditions.

Q.) What is the percentage of Vitamin C and Retinoid in AIO?

A.) We do not disclose the percentages of actives. They are at clinical, effective concentrations formulated with supporting ingredients to deliver visible results. For some, results may appear within the first week of use; for others, visible results may take 4-6 months to improve texture and skin structure.

Q.) Can I use AIO in the daytime?

A.) Yes, as long as you also use a sunscreen such as our Nutrient Day Cream SPF 30.

Q.) Will AIO thin my skin because of the retinoid?

A.) No, that is a myth. Overall, retinoids actually improve skin health by thickening the living layers of the dermis, making the skin appear plumper, smoother, and less wrinkled.

Q.) Can I use AIO if my skin is sensitive to Vitamin C?

A.) It is common for other Vitamin C products to cause irritation when formulated with pure L-ascorbic acid, which requires a very low pH, has stability concerns, and skin penetration issues that can increase sensitivity. AIO is very well tolerated even by ultra-sensitive skin types because it contains an oil-soluble derivative of L-ascorbic acid.

Q.) Can I use AIO if I already use a prescription retinoid such as tretinoin (brand name Retin-A)?

A.) Yes. AIO can be added to a skincare routine that already includes a prescription retinoid such as tretinoin or tazarotene. We recommend listening to your skin and alternating the products so they are not applied at the same time. For example, use the prescription as directed 3-4 nights a week and apply the AIO only in the mornings.

Q.) How quickly will I see results?

A.) You may notice smoother skin and a glow within a week. Around 12 weeks, you can expect to see improvements in skin tone, texture, and the appearance of fine lines.

Q.) Why are retinoids not recommended for use during pregnancy?

A.) Vitamin A affects cell turnover and could theoretically impact a baby’s development in the womb. No ethical scientific institution would conduct studies on preg-
nant women, so there is no evidence to support or contradict theories in this area. Therefore, we err on the side of caution and recommend avoiding Vitamin A and its derivatives during pregnancy.
