Organic lifestyle - live consciously, discover beautiful things
Where do the materials used in our everyday products come from? How are they processed, who makes them, and what happens to them when we no longer need them? People who want to shop more consciously ask themselves these kinds of questions - and often discover brands with exciting ideas and a story of their own.
At Blanda Beauty, you’ll find a carefully curated selection of organic lifestyle products and treats to enjoy mindfully: from fairly made handbags and handmade jewelry to natural scented candles and organic teas, as well as chocolate, oral care, hair accessories and selected beauty tools. We’re inspired by independent businesses, creative founders and family-run companies who develop their products with conviction.
Eco lifestyle - making mindful use of natural resources
To us, a conscious lifestyle means taking a closer look: at where raw materials come from, how products are made and packaged, how long they last, and whether their materials can be reused or recycled.
These approaches take many forms. Some manufacturers use raw materials from certified organic farming, while others opt for recycled materials, refill systems or long-lasting products with replaceable components. Responsible sourcing, fair working conditions and mindful use of water, energy and other natural resources are also part of the picture.
However, not every natural product is automatically more environmentally friendly than a conventional alternative. The specific materials, manufacturing processes and product features are what matter. That’s why we want to share clear examples rather than make sweeping promises about our entire range.
Artisanal production, independent brands and a sense of responsibility
Behind many of our brands are small workshops, independent businesses and family-run companies. Some preserve traditional craft techniques, while others develop new materials or take their own approach to working with production partners. What they have in common is a commitment to thoughtful product design, even if each brand has different priorities.
The B Corp-certified brands O My Bag Amsterdam, TEAM DR JOSEPH and A Beautiful Story show how differently responsibility can take shape in everyday business. O My Bag works with selected production partners in India and is committed to fair working conditions and career opportunities for women. The South Tyrolean family business TEAM DR JOSEPH develops and produces natural cosmetics in Italy and reports on its initiatives in energy, resources and corporate responsibility. A Beautiful Story combines jewelry design with long-term partnerships and handcrafted production in Nepal.
Other brands are developing new packaging solutions. AKT London uses aluminum tubes with specially developed aluminum closures for its deodorant balms, instead of the usual plastic caps. The handmade natural soaps from Therefore Beauty come without plastic packaging; for these soaps, the brand uses plant-based oils and palm oil-free formulas. The Mensch Foundation, an organization that employs people with disabilities, is involved in the packaging and shipping.
Abel shows that even a perfume cap can be reimagined. The redesigned eau de parfum bottles feature caps made from Vivomer, a biotechnologically developed material that, according to the manufacturer, can break down in home compost under suitable conditions. The brand uses recycled paper for its folding boxes, including paper made from recycled coffee cups.
Durable and refillable products are also part of this movement: Ere Perez offers refill systems for select makeup products, while Leaf Shave makes metal razors with replaceable blades.
We find examples like these more convincing than general sustainability promises. They show the decisions behind a product – from the materials and manufacturing to the people involved in making it.
Certifications and labels – what should you look for?
Certifications can help put environmental and social claims into context. What matters is exactly what a label assesses: a food product, a cosmetic formula, a textile, or the company behind it. The standards are not interchangeable.
- NATRUE and COSMOS: Standards for natural and organic cosmetics that include requirements for raw materials and their processing.
- EU organic logo: Identifies food that meets the requirements of the EU Organic Regulation – for example, certified teas or chocolate.
- GOTS: A standard for textiles made from organic fibers that also includes requirements for processing and social criteria.
- B Corp: A certification for companies that assesses aspects including corporate governance and social and environmental impact. It is not a product label.
However, certification is not the only sign of careful work. For small-scale makers in particular, testing procedures involve time and expense. That is why we also look for clear information about materials, origins, supply chains, and manufacturing. You can find more background in our guide to natural cosmetics certifications.
Natural lifestyle products, accessories, and mindful indulgence
Our organic lifestyle range is as varied as the ideas behind the brands: practical everyday companions, special gifts, little moments of indulgence, and products worth taking a closer look at for their materials and how they are made.
Handbags, jewelry, and accessories: The bags and leather accessories from O My Bag Amsterdam are made by select production partners in India. The range also includes handcrafted jewelry, hair clips, scrunchies, and accessories from independent labels – sometimes understated, sometimes colorful, but always with a distinctive design sensibility.
Organic teas, chocolate, and mindful indulgence: Cosmic Dealer combines dark chocolate with nut butter, fruit, and spices. For its Chakra Chocolates, the brand uses traceable single-origin cocoa from certified organic farming. According to the manufacturer, each 20 g piece of its chocolate creations contains no more than 2 g of sugar. We also offer a selection of organic teas, matcha, and plant-based coffee alternatives.
Oral care and beauty tools: The French brand The Smilist develops fluoride-free toothpastes with plant-based ingredients and select active ingredients such as hydroxyapatite and prebiotics. Formulas and certifications vary by product; you can find the specific details on each product page. The range is rounded out by safety razors with replaceable blades, tongue cleaners, and other practical care accessories.
Scented candles, home fragrances, and incense: For your home, we offer, among other things, handmade scented candles by Looops made with plant-based wax and essential oils, as well as select home fragrances and incense sticks. For us, the key considerations are a compelling fragrance composition, quality craftsmanship, and transparent material information.
Why small businesses and concept stores matter
Many exciting product ideas come from small businesses. They often begin with a personal experience, an unusual idea, or the desire to improve an existing product. Independent founders can experiment with new materials and formulas and develop products for which there may not yet be a large market.
For ideas like these to be seen, we need retailers who look beyond well-known names and bestsellers. Independent concept stores discover emerging labels, give them space, and showcase products that might otherwise get lost in large, more standardized collections. In this way, they contribute to a diverse retail landscape.
Also important is taking a personal look at the collection: What makes a formula interesting? How does a material feel? What have people experienced when using it? Good advice comes not only from product data, but also from curiosity, experience, and direct conversations with manufacturers and customers.
This is exactly the freedom we value at Blanda Beauty. We choose for ourselves which brands impress us, try out products, and take the time to understand what makes them special. We share this knowledge with you – online and in person at our store in Reutlingen.
