Verdeur Eau de Parfum by Racyne smells of green—of leaves and grasses in the morning, when the air is still damp and plants release their scent beneath your feet and between your fingers as you walk. Violet leaf and angelica root provide a cool, plant-like freshness, while neroli brings in a touch of light. 

The angelica root in particular shapes the unusual opening. It smells herbal, rooty, and slightly peppery—like a plant that has just been pulled from the earth. Violet leaf reinforces this green facet with a cool, almost damp leafy note. Neroli adds a brighter, citrusy-floral accent and keeps Verdeur from becoming too dark or earthy. Racyne describes this interplay between the bitter-peppery angelica root and the luminous side of neroli and orange blossom as the core of the composition.

In the heart, Verdeur becomes softer. Orange blossom and iris take some of the sharpness out of the intense leafy green. The iris does not add a dominant powdery elegance, but instead feels rather calm, dry, and finely earthy. This gives the fragrance a soft surface without losing its botanical character.

Over time, the green shifts increasingly toward the earth. Vetiver, patchouli, and cedarwood provide structure and dryness, while labdanum adds a gentle resinous warmth underneath. The fresh foliage of the opening gradually becomes the scent of wood, roots, and earth. Even so, Verdeur remains remarkably light and transparent. 

Verdeur does not rely on a single green note, but on different layers of green: cool violet leaf, herbal angelica root, bright orange blossom, earthy vetiver, and dry woods. This makes the fragrance feel very natural without smelling like an essential herbal oil or a classic forest perfume.

Does Verdeur smell like freshly cut grass?
Partly—but Verdeur goes significantly further. Racyne describes freshly cut greenery and crushed leaves as key impressions, but they are joined by damp earth, roots, and tender wood. The fragrance therefore evokes an entire green landscape after rainfall rather than simply freshly mown grass.

What does angelica root smell like in Verdeur?
Angelica root has an unusual herbal, earthy, and slightly peppery fragrance facet. It gives Verdeur something root-like and primal, distinguishing the fragrance from many green perfumes built primarily around citrus, herbs, or grass. Racyne particularly highlights the bitter, peppery side of angelica root as a defining characteristic.

Is Verdeur a floral fragrance?
Flowers play an important role but are not the focus. Neroli and orange blossom absolute bring brightness and a delicate floral softness, while iris adds a calm, slightly earthy facet. Nevertheless, the overall impression remains distinctly green, vegetal, and woody.

Is Verdeur a sweet perfume?
No. Orange blossom and labdanum can contribute some warmth, but Verdeur remains overall green, dry, and earthy. Violet leaf, angelica root, vetiver, patchouli, and cedarwood prevent pronounced sweetness.

What role does vetiver play in Verdeur?
Vetiver connects the green notes with the earthy, woody base. It brings dry roots, wood, and a slightly smoky, earthy depth to the drydown. For Verdeur, Racyne uses Haitian vetiver from LMR, which the brand says is For Life certified.

Is Verdeur a natural perfume?
Verdeur consists of 95% ingredients of natural origin and is based on organic wheat alcohol. Racyne combines natural raw materials with selected modern fragrance ingredients. The perfume therefore should not be equated with a 100% natural or certified natural perfume.

Is Verdeur suitable for sensitive skin?
Racyne has its formulations dermatologically tested and describes them as suitable for sensitive skin. However, Verdeur contains fragrance ingredients and fragrance allergens that must be declared. For very sensitive or reactive skin, we therefore recommend testing the perfume on a small area of skin first.

Is Verdeur a women's or men's fragrance?
Racyne designs its fragrances to be gender-neutral. Verdeur also does not follow a traditional women's or men's fragrance structure. Leaves, roots, orange blossom, iris, vetiver, and woods form a botanical composition whose character develops primarily on the wearer's own skin.
