Good to know: Linoleic acid strengthens the skin barrier by building the intercellular lipid complex, thus preventing transepidermal water loss and the penetration of microorganisms. These lipids also maintain our stratum corneum, the first line of defense of our skin against external damage. A weakened lipid complex leads to a compromised and disturbed skin barrier, making it vulnerable to the penetration of microorganisms through irritants and allergens, which in turn causes excessive inflammation. This is evident in psoriasis, eczema, and atopic dermatitis. Natural oils are excellent for topical application to support linoleic acid levels and skin barrier repair. • Sea buckthorn seed oil is especially rich in anti-inflammatory omega fatty acids. Additionally, sea buckthorn is an excellent source of vitamin A, which boosts cell turnover and promotes the regeneration of skin and hair cells. The concentration of vitamin C in this potent oil provides an effective antioxidant shield.
• Rosehip seed oil, wild rose oil - The oil from the fruits of the wild rose effectively supports cell regeneration. Rich in vitamin C, minerals, beta-carotene, flavonoids, and malic acid, it helps with cell damage and has a balancing effect. It can protect hair from sun damage, moisturize, and regenerate dry and brittle ends.
• Horsetail (Equisetum arvense) contains flavonoids, potassium salts, saponins, and up to 10% silica. Silica is an essential building block of skin tissue and promotes renewal, elasticity, and firmness of the skin. Horsetail stimulates blood and lymph circulation and supports smooth and supple skin. Horsetail is a very ancient plant species and covered vast forests along with ferns and clubmosses about 350 million years ago.
• Ashwagandha / Winter Cherry (Withania somnifera) is a staple of Ayurveda and is also called “Indian ginseng.” This adaptogen supports collagen production, has strong antioxidant properties, and acts antimicrobial and antibacterial. Adaptogenic herbs and plants help maintain our body's balance.
• Sunflower oil (Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil) has a high content of linoleic acid, antioxidants, and vitamin E. It supports wound healing, has antibacterial effects, and helps the skin regenerate. The oil combats skin impurities with vitamins A and D. It is well absorbed and does not clog pores. For hair, it is a natural moisturizer that strengthens hair, promotes growth, reduces frizz, and adds shine.
• Squalane or squalane oil (Squalane) is a lightweight, non-comedogenic, and non-greasy oil that leaves skin silky soft. Squalane is a natural component of our skin barrier and is therefore very well absorbed by our skin. It protects the skin from moisture loss and prevents oxidation of the skin’s own fats. This regenerating oil prevents age spots, reduces the appearance of wrinkles, makes skin supple, and promotes oxygen supply and cell regeneration.
• Grape seed oil (Vitis Vinifera Seed Oil) has a high content of linoleic acid and vitamins E and K. It is considered an oil with exceptionally strong antioxidant and cell-protective properties. The oil promotes skin elasticity, has anti-inflammatory properties, and regulates sebum production.
• Amla / Amalaki (Phyllanthus Emblica (Indian Gooseberry) Extract), also called Indian gooseberry, is described in the Charaka Samhita as “the best rejuvenating agent of all.” The fruit contains oleic acid, vitamin E, and has a very high vitamin C content (many times that of lemon), giving it strong antioxidant properties. Amla is credited with excellent cell-protective properties. The fruit is said to stimulate hair growth, prevent hair loss, and help against premature graying. Split ends, hair breakage, and lack of strength are also positively influenced by the fruit. Amla also benefits the skin by stimulating collagen production and tightening the skin.
• Neem (Azadirachta Indica (Neem) Leaf Extract) – The neem tree is one of the most important medicinal plants in Ayurveda and has been used as a remedy for thousands of years. Due to its diverse effects, neem is also called the village pharmacy. The plant contains over 100 active compounds, including azadirachtin, nimbin, and limonoid, with strong antioxidant, antibacterial, and anti-inflammatory properties.
• Hemp seed oil (Cannabis Sativa Seed Oil) is rich in essential fatty acids omega-6 and omega-3. Hemp oil supports the skin’s natural protective barrier, preventing the penetration of bacteria and environmental toxins. The skin remains healthy and soft, optimally hydrated, and looks smooth. Hemp oil can also help with skin conditions such as psoriasis, atopic dermatitis, or itchy and reddened skin. This is due to the anti-inflammatory, antiseptic, and antimicrobial effects of compounds like stearic acid.
• Calendula (Calendula Officinalis Flower Oil / Extract) from the daisy family is especially known for its anti-inflammatory, soothing, and wound-healing effects. It also promotes collagen formation and helps produce new tissue (an important process in wound healing), and carotenoids strengthen the skin’s protective barrier. Very well tolerated, suitable even for baby skin. Secondary plant compounds, called flavonoids, act as antioxidants and protect the skin from damage caused by free radicals.
• Extract of true or Roman chamomile (Chamomilla Recutita Matricaria Extract / Anthemis Nobilis Flower) has calming, relaxing, anti-inflammatory, and wound-healing effects. Impure skin benefits from its clarifying effect. Plant extracts stimulate skin metabolism and promote cell regeneration. Very suitable for sensitive skin. Stressed scalp also benefits from its disinfecting and soothing properties and supports hair growth.
