Mad et Len is a French fragrance house that combines perfumery and traditional craftsmanship in an unusual way. Amber or lava?

The choice between amber and lava is primarily a matter of material and aesthetics. Both versions are available with the same Terre Noire fragrance composition and can be refreshed with the included perfume concentrate.

Lava with its black, porous surface is an excellent match for Terre Noire’s earthy, mineral character. The rough volcanic stones and heavy, blackened iron vessel echo the fragrance’s raw, unrefined aesthetic. A dark, understated combination in which the fragrance and materials feel perfectly matched.

Amber is made from plant-based resin. The irregular resin pieces give the fragrance object a warmer, more organic appearance and create a beautiful contrast with the black iron. This material combination feels particularly harmonious with Terre Noire and its deep earthy and woody notes. Important: Amber refers to the fragrance carrier here, not the Ambre Nobile fragrance.

Both materials absorb the fragrance concentrate and release it slowly and over a long period into the air. Their different properties can cause the fragrance to diffuse slightly differently: Terre Noire may come through somewhat more immediately with the porous lava stones, while the plant-based amber resin tends to release the fragrance more gently and evenly. The intensity of both versions can be adjusted individually with the included fragrance concentrate.

Handcrafted iron vessel

We find the way the vessels are made very fitting for the brand. They are hand-finished and blackened. Mad et Len uses iron from recycling streams for this purpose, which sometimes still bears traces of its previous use. Small nicks, irregularities, or even stamped letters and numbers are deliberately left as they are. This makes each vessel a one-of-a-kind piece with its own story.

How to use

• Apply a few drops of the included fragrance concentrate to the lava stones or amber resin.
• Place the fragrance carrier in the open iron vessel so Terre Noire can gradually diffuse throughout the room.
• The fragrance intensity can be adjusted by changing the amount of concentrate and opening or closing the lid.
• When the fragrance intensity fades, add a few drops to the fragrance carrier as needed.
• Do not apply the fragrance concentrate directly to furniture, textiles, or delicate surfaces.
